Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) and Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) Scheme
To qualify for VTOS you must be over 21 years of age and in receipt of one of the following for a minimum of 6 months (156 days).
To be eligible for BTEA you may qualify after 3 months (78 days).
Eligibility for participation in both schemes is at the discretion of the Department of Social Protection and not Colaiste Ide College of Further Education
Participants are offered significant support to assist them in making the most of their opportunities while at Coláiste Íde, including access, where appropriate, to our on-site Study Support Centre and Careers Guidance.

Course Components include Systems Software, Network Essentials, Multimedia and Work Experience.

Post Leaving Certificate - Mature Students
A number of places are available on the Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) courses for mature students. Adults who, on interview, are considered to have reached a suitable standard either through formal education or by life work experience, may enter these programmes.

Leaving Certificate
Our Leaving Certificate Course is offered under the BTEA Scheme, The subjects include: English, Irish, Maths, Business, History and Career Guidance.
Applicants to all courses above must be over 21 years of age(18 years for Leaving Certificate) and are subject to the eligibility rules of the Department of Social Protection
Back to Education Initiative- (BTEI)
The Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) offers part-time education programmes for adults and young people. BTEI gives people an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Each course has an attemdance requirement of at least 14-17 hours per week and programmes are offered at FETAC Level 3 or 4. These are designed to equip participants with basic skills and to create educational progression pathts to further education or training at Colaiste Ide or elsewhere.

It should be noted that numbers of participant places allocated to Colaiste Ide, under VTOS and BTE schemes are capped by the Department of Education and Science so early application is advisable. Open day willl be held on Wednesday 18th 2012 4:15pm to 8:15pm. Interview days will be held on Saturday 4th February 2012 9:30am to 3:30pm and Saturday 10th March 2012 9:30am to 3:30pm
