Aims

Both male and female students will be prepared for life as a student athlete. Students will be developed academically, physically, technically, tactically and psychologically for the demands of being a student athlete.  Only students that reach the required academic and football standards will be considered as candidates for scholarship.

Entry Requirements *

* Applicants must pass an approved Health test

* U.S. colleges do not recognise FETAC Level 4 or LCA as fullfilling the academic entry requirements for the U.s. university system.

Course Content

Soccer Skills , Soccer Coaching, Exercise and Fitness, Communications, Sports and Recreation Studies, Anatomy and Physiology, Occupational First Aid, SAT Mathematics, SAT English ( US Colleges Sports Scholarship Programme) and Work Experience.

Assessment and Certification

FETAC Level 5 - Record of Achievement, FAI Coaching Certificates - FAI Kickstart.

Career Opportunities

Students will acquire the necessary skills for life as a student athlete.  Those who reach the required academic standard may have the opportunity to participate in our annual trip to the USA.  This trip is designed so that students can demonstrate their football ability to US college coaches.  Coaches may then offer soccer scholarships to suitable student athletes.  Those not successful in gaining a soccer scholarship will have the opportunity to join our Sports and Leisure Management course or progress to higher education.  Many students who have completed the Soccer Scholarship Progamme course are now coaching or playing at professional or semi-professional level or progress to Higher Education
