Students will obtain an understanding of networking and system maintenance that will give them the ability to work in the computer industry.

Entry Requirements

• Successful completion of level 5 Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) Computer and Network Maintenance (CCNMX)
• A personal interview

Course Content

Network Models and Technologies, Network Administration, Network Security, Software Systems, Web Authoring, Web Hosting, Internet Programming - Java and Communications.

Assessment and Certification

FETAC level 6 Computer and Network Technician (CCNTX).

External Examiner

Further Education and Training Awards Council - FETAC

Career Opportunities

Students will acquire the skills necessary to take up employment as trainee computer systems programmers, technicians, website designers. They will also be equipped in Networks Technical Support and other computer related areas. Students can progress to certificate, diploma or degree courses in IT Colleges.
