Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) Maintenance Grants

Students attending full-time approved Courses in Colaiste Ide for the 20010/2011 academic session are eligible to apply for a maintenance grant. The grant is available to first time PLC students. This grant does not cover the cost of registration or examination fees. It is a maintenance grant paid each month directly into the students' bank account.

Students apply for the PLC Maintenance Grant to their local Vocational Educational Committee. Students living in postal districts 1-13 and postal district 17 should contact City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee (CDVEC), Town Hall, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 for an application pack.

The initial decision regarding the grant is based solely on income.

The PLC Maintenance Grant is a means tested grant. This involves an assessment of the earnings in the family (parents and candidate). Students over 23 years of age, who are living outside the family home will be assessed on their income and that of their spouse (if applicable).

For further information, please contact your local Vocational Education Committee.

For a list of Vocational Education Committees Nationwide please check the Irish Vocational Education Association web site: www.ivea.ie

Payment is subject to a satisfactory participation, not a monthly attendance report. Colaiste Ide does not paticipate in the decision to determine eligibility to the receipt of payment.

Note: Since 2009/10 students participating in BTEA and VTOS are no longer eligable to qualify for receipt of PLC Grants.

Note: Students repeating a year are not eligable to receive a PLC grant even if they have received it in their first year. Students attending a 2nd PLC at the same level as their first year will also be ineligible to continue to receive a PLC grant.
