Student Representative Council
In compliance with The Education Act 1998 the college provides for the operation of a Student Representative Council. The council consists of representatives elected by the student body from each class group within the college. This body elects its Officers, (Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, PRO) the Officer board also has in addition 4 members from the council. It is elected annually and is an important vehicle in the promotion of college life.
The SRC has, to date, been involved in the organisation of fund raising events for various charities, extra curricular events for students, fun days and other events. It is the mechanism within Colaiste Ide where student issues can be aired and addressed. The Officer Board normally meets with the Principal at least once a month and it must hold a meeting itself on a monthly basis.
There is also a student representative elected as a student representative on to the Colaiste Ide Advisory sub committee which manages the college on behalf of the City Of Dublin ETB. The SRC can only be as effective as its members. It is vital that your voice be heard in how the college delivers its services and how those services may be improved. Join the SRC and become involved in the life of the college.
