This course gives the learner the key skills, knowledge and competencies to pursue a careers in the beauty and wellness industry. In addition to QQI certification in Beauty Therapy, learners have the opportunity to gain an ITEC Beauty Specialist Diploma qualification and additional industry driven courses will be available to complete throughout the year. Learners over the age of 18 also may avail of the opportunity to be selected for an Erasmus+ European mobility project (subject to funding), which enables them to spend three weeks on work placement in a European destination, working at high end, four and five-star hotels.
Entry Requirements
In general you need to have a minimum of 5 passes at ordinary level in the Leaving Certificate or its equivalent. Applications are welcome from students with Leaving Certificate Vocational, Leaving Certificate Applied or FETAC Level 4 qualifications. Exceptions can be made where special circumstances apply on a case by case basis. The Leaving Certificate is not a requirement for mature students and appropriate experience can be considered as meeting the entry requirement for most courses. We will also accept ITEC Beauty Specialist Award in the entry requirement.

Career Opportunities and Progression
This course offers progression options for learners to programmes in Universities and Technological Universities. Third-level institutes also reserve a number of places on degree courses for mature learners (over the age of 23).
Learners must apply to each institute individually. Learners who complete this major QQI award at Level 5 are eligible to apply through the CAO system for entry into participating courses in the QQI Higher Education Links Scheme (HELS). A limited number of places are available and applicants are ranked according to results achieved in their QQI major award.
Successful graduates have the opportunity to seek employment in a range of beauty and health settings, including beauty salons, health spas, leisure centres, hotels, and cruise ships.
There are approximately forty Higher Education Institutions including Universities, Technological Universities and private colleges offering places on a range of courses to QQI full award certificate holders.
