Our hands-on and practical course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge needed to work in the dynamic and developing Horticulture sector. Students will study areas such as Plant Identification, Plant Science, Soil Management and Fruit & Veg Production. Students on this course are assisted with work experience placements.

How will I learn? How will I be assessed?

You will have a mixture of classroom-based subjects, practicals and work placements. You will be expected to complete assignments throughout the year and exams for some modules will take place at the end of the year.

Applicants with a passion for working with nature, a willingness to work hard, an interest in plants and gardening.

We also welcome applications from mature students on all our courses.

Career opportunities and progression

There are approximately forty Higher Education Institutions including Universities, Technological Universities and private colleges offering places on a range of courses to QQI full award certificate holders. This course will also provide you with a variety of career opportunities such as working in Landscaping and Gardening Centres, Parks/Grounds Keeping (OPW or City/Council Councils), Organic Food Production and even Starting Your Own Business.
