Course Information
The aim of this course is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence required to prepare and serve high-quality coffee beverages while working effectively in a café, hospitality or food service environment. Learners will gain practical experience in beverage preparation, customer service and the operation of specialist coffee equipment.
This course will cover the following topics:
- Coffee origins, growing regions and roasting processes.
- Understanding coffee beans and beverage ingredients.
- Espresso preparation and extraction techniques.
- Milk texturing and frothing for a range of coffee beverages.
- Preparation of specialty hot and cold drinks.
- Operation, cleaning and maintenance of coffee equipment.
- Identifying and correcting common drink preparation issues.
- Customer service and communication skills.
- Food safety, hygiene and workplace safety practices.
- Consistently producing quality beverages to industry standards.
